2022 OKEHO DAY CELEBRATION RECORDED UNPRECEDENTED CROWD.


It was a new dawn in the history of day celebration as the 2022 Okeho Day took another dimension with unprecedented convergence of distinguished personalities of traditional rulers, arrays of politicians, government functionaries, captains of industries, religious bodies and Okeho indigines home and abroad.

The epoch event was held under the auspices of Okere of Saki Oba Khalid Oyeniyi Olabisi Oyedepo the third and Onjo of Okeho Oba Mustapha Osuolale Adeitan.

While speaking on behalf of the State Governor, the Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal urged the people of Oke Ogun area to show their loyalty and commitment to Governor Mankinde's administration in order to consolidate on the dividend of democracy being enjoy in the region.

The Deputy Governor explained that his choice as the number two citizen in the state should be regarded as blessing and recognition for the people of oke ogun area.

According to him, Governor Seyi Makinde gave him free hands to operate as co pilot in steering the state affairs.

He therefore admonished the people of Okeho to exercise patient for their quest for development to materialize.

While reacting to a peaceful protest by some people in the town who carried placards with various inscriptions to attract government's attention to the need for more infrastructural projects in the town, the Deputy Governor assured them that their demands would be looked into.

He said Okeho/Iganna road had been captured in the 2022/2023 budget.

The Deputy Governor stressed that he has charged OYSTROMA Chairman to ensure that potholes along Iseyin/Okeho road are filled up to ease vehicular movement.

He admonished the people of oke ogun to appreciate the successes recorded during Seyi Makinde led administration for more dividend of democracy.

In their goodwill messages, Senator Fatai Buhari and Teslim Folarin represented by Hon Dauda Oladimeji Asusu, Barrister Ahmed Raji SAN represented by Hon Saheed Adejare Alaran and Hon Shina Abiola Peller congratulated the people of Okeho on the historic occasion.

They enjoined them to increase their cohesion and coperate with one another for the overall development of their ancient town.

The Onjo of Okeho Oba Mustapha Osuolale Adeitan, Chairman Okeho Day Planning Committee High Prince Dr Leye Babalola, Okeho Day Planning Committee Secretary Mr Timothy Amosun and Alhaji Isiaka Olalekan Salami while speaking with Kaseem Jenrade took turn to explain the rationale behind the 2022 Okeho Day tagged Operation Light Up Okeho basically designed to install 450 solar powered electric poles for electrification of the town.

They also used the occasion to draw the attention of state government to numerous challenges bedeviling the town.

The colourful ceremony also featured series of acrobatic cultural display by several cultural troops.
